How To Make Drinking Chocolate

Broma started out back in December 2018 after the success of our Southbank market stall. On our stall, we used our trusty sauce to make irresistible drinking chocolate, which was always met with delight from our customers. Because they loved it so much, we decided to set up our site so that chocolate lovers can enjoy our organic, plant-based range of products from wherever they are in the UK. Our sauces are made from a unique blend of organic yacon, dates, and single-origin cacao. All of our products are organic, vegan, free from refined sugars and made with all natural ingredients. And, the best bit is that each serving is only 36 calories and packed with essential nutrients.

Whilst our different types of sauce are extremely versatile, we love to enjoy them as drinking chocolate. The drink can be enjoyed with any choice of milk, including nut-based alternatives, so you can enjoy a dairy-free hot chocolate too! This blog will show you how to make the perfect hot chocolate with just a few ingredients, some easy-to-follow instructions, and Broma’s products.

Our favourite ways to make drinking chocolate

Spicy hot chocolate

This recipe is a favourite winter warmer for our customers, but the flavours from this drink are nothing short of delicious regardless of the time of year that you choose to make it. Our hot chocolates can be made in the microwave for a quick and easy option with less washing up, or you can make our drinking chocolate using a saucepan. For the latter, simply heat 200ml of milk in a pan on a low to medium heat. For a spicy punch with loads of flavour, add half a star anise pod, a pinch of cinnamon powder and a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg to the milk. Allow the mixture to steep for a few minutes as it heats. Then, once heated thoroughly, add 20ml-30ml of your Broma sauce to complete the hot chocolate mix. Serve in your favourite mug or fancy glass then, all that is left to do is sit back and enjoy!

Vanilla hot chocolate

Adding a bit of vanilla into your drinking chocolate can completely elevate the taste of an already delicious drink. As with all good things, heat 200ml of milk in a pan on a medium to low heat. Once the milk has been thoroughly heated, add 20ml-30ml of Broma sauce with a splash of vanilla extract. For some added spice and a perfect combination of flavours, you could take inspiration from the previous hot cocoa recipe and serve this mix in a glass with a cinnamon stick.

Orange hot chocolate

It’s one of the nation’s favourite duos - chocolate and orange - and our chocolate orange sauce certainly goes down a treat with our customers. Better still, it’s super easy to make. All you have to do is heat 200ml of milk in a pan on a medium to low heat. Add 20-30ml of our chocolate orange sauce to the milk and keep stirring until it’s heated through. And remember, the longer you heat it, the richer it becomes.

Salted caramel hot chocolate

Another iconic duo our nation loves is chocolate and caramel, and rightly so! Our salted caramel sauce is the perfect alternative to ordinary hot chocolate. As always, heat 200ml of milk on a medium to low heat and stir thoroughly. Once heated, stir in 20-30ml of our salted caramel chocolate sauce, and indulge in your super decadent salted caramel hot chocolate!
